Community Event – October 27, 2024 – SILENT PHOTOPLAY: “The Phantom of the Opera” (1925) – 6:00 PM - Tryon Presbyterian Church, 430 Harmon Field Road – Tryon, NC 28782. Live organ accompaniment by Scott Foppiano of this classic silent film starring Lon Chaney and Mary Philbin and a must for Halloween!

Chapter Event – January 31, 2025 (Friday) – Silent Film –Title (TBD) – Scott Foppiano, organ accompanist – Converse Twichell Auditorium – 7:00 PM. Always a favorite program for audiences of all ages. Watch and listen to the mighty pipe organ accompaniment for fun comedy silent films of the 1920’s. Reception to follow. No cost. Handicapped accessible. Host – Brennan Szafron.
Chapter Event – February 9, 2025 - Organ Dedication Concert (Dr. Brennan Szafron) – First Presbyterian Church Greer – 3:00 PM – Reception to follow. Enjoy the new Cornell Zimmer 8-pipe rank, 48 Walker digital-sampled pipe rank organ in the beautiful sanctuary as Brennan introduces the range of voices. Host – Lisa Dillard.
Chapter Event - March 4, 2025 (Tuesday) – Concordia Choir – First Presbyterian Church Spartanburg – 7:00/TBA PM. Spartanburg AGO will co-sponsor this recital with the First Presbyterian Church. The 68-member mixed choir from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota is one of the finest university choirs in the nation. Reception to follow. Don’t miss this incredible group of young singers. Chapter Event - April 26, 2025 (Saturday) – Pedals, Pipes, Pizza/Member Recital – Bethel United Methodist Church, Spartanburg – 10:30 PPP/1:00 PM Member Recital. A brief and entertaining introduction to the pipe organ for anyone ages 8 and up, led by Dr. Brennan Szafron, followed by pizza and a fun time socializing with area organists. There will be hands-on time after the event for anyone who wants to try out the pipe organ. After lunch there will be an optional mini recital from a couple of our chapter members. No cost. Community Event - May 31, 2025 (Saturday) – Meet & Greet Abigal Wood, 2024 Powell Scholarship Winner – Home of John Polo, Simpsonville – 6:00 PM. This is an RSVP event for all AGO members for the Greenville, Anderson and Spartanburg Chapters as well as large donors of the Powell Scholarship to meet this incredibly gifted young organist from Syracuse University. Heavy hors d’oeuvres in a relaxing event around the house/pool. Host – John Polo. SPAGO is a sponsor of the Powell Scholarship.
Community Event - June 1, 2025 (Sunday) – Abigail Wood, 2024 Powell Scholarship Winner Recital, Christ Church Episcopal Greenville. 4:00 PM. Reception to follow. Come listen to this national winner of the Powell Scholarship as she performs on the Cornell Zimmer combined 67-rank Goulding Wood pipe organ and 105 digitally sampled Walker rank amazing organ. Hosts – John Polo, Donald Duncan, Vance Jenkins.
